Moorhead City Council candidate ends campaign — Wahpeton Government news

MOORHEAD — A third Moorhead City Council candidate has ended their campaign, though their name will still be on the ballot. Jayce Swanson, who will appear on the ballot as Dalton Swanson, is no longer running for Moorhead City Council in Ward 1. Swanson is the second Ward 1 candidate to drop out of the race. Ben Livingston announced plans to end his campaign in August. Ryan Schatz, a Ward 2 candidate, also ended his campaign. All three candidates will still appear on the ballot, having missed the deadline for candidates to officially withdraw from the race. Swanson ended her campaign because most potential supporters were already backing Ward 1 candidate Sarah Opitz, Swanson said in an email. Opitz, director of the Lotus Center, is facing incumbent Ward 1 council member Ryan Nelson in the Nov. 3 election. Ward 1 includes north Moorhead. In total,15 people filed for Moorhead city offices. In November, Moorhead residents will elect one city council
