NDSCS sees increase in student enrollment

WAHPETON — Enrollment at North Dakota State College of Science has grown by 31% over the last five years. That translates to an additional 900 students at the technical college in Wahpeton. One reason for the increase? The school says part of it is that they offer a two-year degree with a four-year feel. While enrollment held relatively steady from 2025 to 2026, credit hours are up, which means students are taking more classes, officials said. In fact, NDSCS hit a 46-year high in credit hours this semester. "What we do really well here at NDSCS is for our 18-, 19-year-olds graduating right from high school. So the students who want to come here full-time, live on campus, the two-year experience, our programs right now are full," said Dr. Lisa Karch, interim president at NDSCS. NDSCS is the only school in the North Dakota University System that saw credit hours increase while enrollment was flat or declining.]]>
